The Family Support Service offers a number of programs that aim to provide practical and emotional support to members of the community.

 


Family Support Program
 

A program that offers support services to families in the community who are experiencing difficulties.

 

Older - Wiser - Stronger


A program that offers support services to male members of the community who are experiencing difficulties.


Building Futures Together Program

 
An intensive family support program for families referred by the Department of Child Safety.

 

 

 

 

 

Family Support Program


Aims of the Program


We all know that parenting is a challenging and sometimes overwhelming task.
The Family Support Program aims to provide practical and emotional support to families in our community by developing family strengths and increasing opportunities for improved individual and family goals.


The Family Support Worker can visit families in their homes or meet with individuals and or families at Graham House to provide support in a variety of ways depending on the issues the family is experiencing.


What does the Family Support Worker do?


• Listen and talk through options and possible solutions to family or individual problems;


• Offer ideas about handling stress and ways to learn to relax;


• Share ideas and skills about child behaviour and child development, parenting and home management issues;


• Assist families to link into other support groups and community resources where appropriate;


• Develop special caring relationships with family members based on trust.

Older – Wiser - Stronger Program


Aims of the Program


All men need support and information at different times, for different reasons.


The Older – Wiser – Stronger Program aims to provide practical and emotional support to men in our community who are experiencing difficulties.

 

The Older – Wiser – Stronger Program focuses on developing family strengths and increasing opportunities for improved individual and family goals.


The Older – Wiser – Stronger Program offers a service to men where the Support Worker can facilitate groups or meet with individuals to provide support in a variety of ways depending on the problems the men are experiencing.


What does the Older– Wiser – Stronger Worker do?


• Listen and talk through options and possible solutions to family or personal problems;


• Offer ideas about handling stress and ways to learn to relax;


• Share ideas and skills about child behavior and child developments, parenting and home management issues;


• Assist families to link into other support groups and community resources where appropriate;


• Community Education;


• Develop special caring relationships with family members based on trust;


• Men’s Group Meetings for issues men in the community are experiencing;


• Facilitate workshops on specific issues – anger, parenting etc.

Building Futures Together Program


Aims of the program
 
The purpose of Building Futures Together is to increase access to Family Intervention Services for families of children and young people under the age of 18 years subject to ongoing child protection statutory intervention where the child or young person is living in an out-of-home placement or in the family home.
